The Beijing weather forecast (北京天气预报) is generally hot in summer and quite cold in winter. Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. The climate in Beijing is with cold and dry winters due to the Siberian air masses that move southward across the Mongolian Plateau. Summers are hot owing to warm and humid monsoon winds from the southeast bringing Beijing most of its annual precipitation. January is the coldest month and July is the warmest. Winter usually begins towards the end of October. June to August are hot and wet with about 40% of the annual precipitation. Autumn is a great period to visit Beijing with a mild weather.

Beijing is China's second largest city, after Shanghai. It is one of the four municipalities of the PRC, which are equivalent to provinces in China's administrative structure. The municipality of Beijing borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south, and for a small section in the east as well as Tianjin Municipality to the southeast. Beijing which hosted the 2008 Olympic Games is a major transportation hub. The city's climate is a monsoon-influenced continental climate, characterized by hot, humid summers due to the East Asian monsoon, and generally cold, windy, dry winters reflecting the influence of the vast Siberian anticyclone. Average temperatures in January are at around 1 degree Celsius; while average temperatures in July are around 30 degree C.
